THE PASSING OF ROBERT CERRA

Robert Cerra, Sergeant Mass State Police (retired), and a founding member of The Massachusetts Association For Professional Law Enforcement (MAPLE), passed away today.  He had recently been under medical care.  His situation worsened late last week and he was admitted to Beth Israel Hospital.   He died this morning.   Anyone who knew Robert Cerra, will attest unhesitatingly, to his integrity, his energy, his creativity and his faith.    He served with the Massachusetts State Police for over twenty years in a variety of highly sensitive positions to include the Special Services Unit and the Asset Forfeiture unit.  Following his retirement, he worked in bank security and also served as the intelligence coordinator for the Executive Officer of Transportation, developing intelligence and conducting threat analysis for the state’s transportation system.  He was a man devoted to his family, his faith and his country.  Bob was a living example of a person, who succeeded in a profession, where cynicism too often abounds, holding his head high, caring for others and never compromising his integrity.    Robert Cerra will be missed.  Arrangements are currently being made.  The family is advising that a wake will be held Friday evening with a funeral Mass and burial from St Bernard’s Church in Newton on Saturday morning.  Further details to be provided.   We ask for your prayers for both Bob and his family.
