CRITICAL SUPPORT PROGRAMS TO BE CUT
MAPLE has added its voice to those calling for a reconsideration of a state budget decision to cut 85M from the state mental health line items in the budget. These cuts will result in the loss of caseworkers, closure of facilities and the loss of critical programs including those aimed at supporting law enforcement in their efforts to deal with the mentally ill. Please read the attached press release. If you have good relations with your state Senator or Representative, we urge you give them a call on this matter. (See attached press release)
WORK ON REFORM GUIDEBOOK IS ABOUT TO BEGIN
Extensive Research Is Underway: Discussions To Start Soon.
Work on the MAPLE Bluebook- Guidelines For Police Reform will begin soon. The last few months have been devoted to pulling data out of the following historical public police inquiries: the Wickersham report, the Knapp Commission, the St Clair Commission, the Ward Commission, the Rampart Commission, the Christopher Commission and the Mollen Commission. Each one of these was a historic examination of police misfeasance, nonfeasance, malfeasance and corruption. The MAPLE guidebook will be a compilation of the lessons learned from these tragic experiences.
DUES ARE DUE
We are now ending the first quarter of 2025. Annual dues are due. They remain at $50.00. These proceeds will be used to help float the guidebook which is the organization’s legacy project. Please forward a personal check- no government checks allowed- to MAPLE PO Box 323 Westford MA 01886. Thank you.
