THE PASSING OF WILLIAM COULTER

It is with deep sadness, that I report the passing of Detective Lieutenant William Coulter of the Massachusetts State Police.   He passed away this afternoon (9/30/2019) after struggling with a serious health issue, which developed last week.  I had the great privilege and honor of knowing Bill for forty-five years.   We both began our careers on the Massachusetts State Police together.   We were classmates (59 th RTT)  and served at the old Grafton Barracks from 1975 until 1980 as “boot troopers”.    There is no one that I know, who loved the Massachusetts State Police more than he did.     Bill devoted his life to the Department, because he deeply believed that the Mass State Police was a force for good in this world.     Throughout his career he held difficult and dangerous assignments.   He performed his duty with unmatched excellence, and his legacy of 45 years of service includes an unblemished record of integrity.    He was a founding member of MAPLE and one of its most enthusiastic supporters.   His knowledge, dedication, humor and friendship will be missed.   Please pray for his family and friends.
