Fall General Meeting To Be Held At Stonehill College December 12, 2024
The MAPLE board of directors has set Tuesday December 12, 2024 as the date for this year’s fall general membership meeting. The meeting will be held at Stonehill College according to our usual format: 11A reception, 12 Noon Lunch and 1PM the business meeting. Please save the date, more details will be provided as we get closer to the date. Lunch will be served at no cost to the members. Let us know if you want to bring a guest.
MAPLE PRESENTS BEFORE THE MASS ASSOCIATION OF JUNIOR COLLEGE EDUCATORS
Members Urged to Consider Affiliation with MAPLE Around Goal of Professionalism
President Galvin urged members of the Massachusetts Association of Junior College Educators to affiliate with MAPLE at a zoom meeting held on Friday October 4. The meeting was organized by Scott Joubert of Northern Essex Community College and was open to all Criminal Justice Educators across the state who teach in the junior college system. There was a general consensus that the new free junior college tuition program recently announced by Governor Healey, would remove a major obstacle toward the establishment of a two- year college degree requirement for becoming a police officer in Massachusetts, as economic limitations have now been removed. Galvin said that it was important to organize and press for this change and that MAPLE was prepared to do its part to help make this happen.
POST OPENS THE DOOR FOR PARTICIPATION
Upcoming POST Events Can Now Be Accessed By All MAPLE members
MAPLE is now regularly receiving notifications for meetings involving the POST commission and its subcommittees. The POST commission meetings and hearings are generally done on line via zoom. We will be sending you these links via email following this update. POST’s full membership meeting will be held on Thursday October 17, 2024. The session begins at 8.30AM and goes until 11A. There is a full agenda as certification standards, use of force reporting and officer conduct will all be discussed. The following day October 18, 2024, POST will be sponsoring a seminar on police fitness and physical training. Both programs can be accessed by zoom. These links will be available on follow-emails. All MAPLE members are encouraged to attend.
